The highlight of my interest in outdoor pursuits and hill walking was when I completed the 'Tour du Mont Blanc' circuit in the Alps. More recently I have learnt to play golf, although regrettably the pressure of time means that this is restricted to a few rounds in the summer months. Currently I am a member of a local sports and squash club. I am proud that the quality of our service has been recognised nationally and I was honoured to recently receive the ‘Building Healthier Lives Clinical Excellence Award’.Īway from work, I have always taken a keen interest in sport, and have played in cricket, tennis, basketball and squash teams. In addition to my clinical duties, I have been the clinical director of dermatology for over ten years.

In addition to a specialised skin cancer and laser surgery service, my practice at Spire Parkway and Solihull Hospitals involves the treatment of a broad spectrum of skin disorders. I have been able to provide a comprehensive dermatology service after being appointed a consultant in 1999. My training was consolidated by an overseas fellowship studying Mohs' Micrographic surgery, a highly specialised technique used in treating difficult skin tumours. My research experience provided training in the treatment of allergic and inflammatory skin disorders, and I also developed further expertise in laser therapy and management of skin cancer. After completing my general professional training in the West Midlands, I returned to the University Hospital in Nottingham to undertake my specialist training in dermatology.
